This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, store, and disclose personal information when you interact with us through our website (swisswoodcraft.com.au), our social media pages on Facebook and Instagram, our advertising campaigns, or when you enquire about or attend one of our woodworking courses.

By providing us with your personal information, you consent to the collection, use, and disclosure of that information as set out in this Privacy Policy.

What information we collect

We only collect information that is reasonably necessary to deliver our services and respond to your enquiries. The types of personal information we collect may include:

  • Your name

  • Your email address

  • Your phone number

  • Your suburb or general location (when relevant to course attendance)

  • Information you voluntarily provide when contacting us, enquiring about a course, requesting a gift voucher, or completing a booking

  • Information you provide when responding to our advertisements on Facebook, Instagram, or other platforms

We do not knowingly collect sensitive information (such as health, racial, religious, or financial information) unless it is directly relevant to a specific service request and you have consented.

3. How we collect information

We collect personal information directly from you when you:

  • Submit an enquiry through our website contact form

  • Respond to one of our Facebook or Instagram Lead Ads (Meta Instant Forms)

  • Send us an email or SMS

  • Call us by phone

  • Register for or attend one of our courses

  • Purchase a gift voucher or course place

  • Follow, message, or comment on our Facebook or Instagram pages

When you respond to one of our Facebook or Instagram advertisements using a Lead Form (Instant Form), the personal information you submit (typically your name, email, and phone number) is collected through Meta Platforms, Inc. ("Meta") and passed through to us. Meta's handling of that information is also subject to Meta's own Data Policy, available at https://www.facebook.com/privacy/policy/.

We may also collect limited technical information (such as IP address, browser type, and pages visited) automatically when you visit our website. This information is used only to improve the website experience and is not combined with your identity unless you have submitted contact details through a form.

4. How we use your information

We use your personal information only for the purposes for which it was collected, including:

  • Responding to your enquiries about our courses, gift vouchers, or availability

  • Sending you course confirmations, schedule updates, and other administrative messages

  • Issuing invoices, receipts, and gift voucher documentation

  • Providing customer service before, during, and after your course

  • Sending occasional news, new-course announcements, or seasonal offers (only if you have opted in — you can unsubscribe at any time)

  • Meeting our legal, tax, and record-keeping obligations

We will never use your personal information for any purpose that is incompatible with the purpose for which it was collected without first obtaining your consent.

5. Who we share your information with

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party.

We may share limited personal information only with:

  • Our trusted service providers who help us operate the business — including our website host (Wix), email provider, payment processor, accountant, and scheduling tools. These providers are contractually required to protect your information and may only use it to provide services to us.

  • Meta Platforms, Inc. (Facebook / Instagram) — when you interact with our advertising, your interaction data flows through Meta as described in Section 3.

  • Law enforcement or regulatory authorities — only where we are legally required to disclose information (e.g. court order, subpoena, or to comply with Australian law).

We do not transfer your personal information overseas except where required by our service providers (e.g. cloud services whose servers may be located outside Australia). In such cases, we take reasonable steps to ensure the overseas recipient handles your information in a way consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles.

6. How we store and protect your information

Your personal information is stored in a combination of electronic and physical formats, protected by appropriate security measures including:

  • Password-protected devices and accounts

  • Secure cloud-based email and file storage

  • Access limited to Michael Gasser and authorised assistants only

  • Secure deletion of information no longer needed

While we take reasonable precautions to protect your information, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. If we become aware of a data breach that is likely to result in serious harm to you, we will notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner in accordance with the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.

7. How long we keep your information

We retain your personal information only for as long as is reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, or as required by law. In general:

  • Enquiry-only contacts (where you did not book a course): up to 24 months, after which we delete your information unless you have asked to remain on our mailing list

  • Course participants: for the duration of your course and up to 7 years afterwards (for tax and business record-keeping purposes)
